Design a platform where tutors and students can connect together based on their topics of interest and expertise.

UI Design, Responsive Web Design

This is a personal project completed during the Google UX Design certification course by Coursera.

The Problem

After taking up a professional course, it is difficult for students to find tutors for any specific subject or a specific course. There are classes and tutors available from k-12 but very few good tutors available for professional courses. Even if there are any tutors or industry experts available, there is no way to have access to their calendars.

The students find it difficult to select a tutor without any information available. Even if a student finds the right tutor it is not possible to access the tutors calendar in order to plan the tutoring sessions.

The tutor calendar and reviews is not accessible to the students.

The Goal

The goal is to create a platform where students can locate tutors across the globe for the subjects they need help with specifically.

This platform will give access to the tutor’s calendar and a way to talk to them 1:1 and get all the doubts cleared.

A reliable platform to connect students to tutors and optimize the process of finding the right tutors.

Summary

There are many platforms out there which work on connecting students with tutors to help them with a specific subject or prepare for a test. After conducting secondary research, I found out that students usually need in person guidance with their subject queries instead of taking self paced tutorials on the internet.

When the students are pursuing their professional courses, they are looking for solutions which are pocket-friendly, reliable and do not take up much time as they have less time and money at hand to spare. After checking reviews of the similar tutoring platforms, it was discovered that some platforms disappointed the students with unreliable tutors while some paid the tutors flat rate and lacked incentives for tutors to go the extra mile.

Pain points

Tutor Reliability

The student find it difficult to check whether the tutor will really solve their problem

Access To Tutor

The students need an easy way to reach out to the tutor and book 1:1 sessions with them.

Feedback

The student and tutor should be able to write reviews and progresses for each other to help them grow.

Next step would be to completely define the tutor workflow in order to give tutors entry to the platform without intimidating them.

The step after this would be to incorporate a community among the students and tutors in order to bring awareness of what is happening around the globe.
